I Hope This Unreleased Parker McCollum Song Is On His Upcoming Album

Parker McCollum

Parker McCollum keeps getting better and better…

He just released, “Drinkin'”, a good old fashion sad, solo drinking, drunk talking song which is another look at what his upcoming album is going to sound like, and I’m a fan. Lots of slide, great squawky guitar riffs and a catchy hook, I’m sold.

We already know he’s got some great unreleased songs ready to go, but I really hope he includes another unreleased one on the record…

As far as I can tell, it doesn’t have an official name yet, but I can see it being called “Have You Ever Left Me In Your Mind” or maybe just “Left Me In Your Mind,” but regardless, it is OLD SCHOOL COUNTRY… We’re talking George Jones, Merle Haggard sound.

In the song, he says he’s never had to worry about his lady, she’s never given him any reason to doubt that she loves him, but for some reason, he just can’t shake the feeling that somethings going on and she’s thought about leaving…

“Have you ever closed your eyes
Held me tight
And dreamed of someone new.
Tell me have you ever felt
Like someone else
Can make your dreams come true.
Have you ever secretly
Walked out on me
Left all we have behind
I wonder
Have you ever left me in your mind?”

Goddamn, Parker, that is some absolute gold.

The words, the rhythm, the rhymes… I mean, “Have you ever secretly, walked out on me” is so smooth, Cool Hand Luke is jealous…

At the end even Parker is impressed with himself…

“Holy shit I love that song.”

Yeah, me too, man. I hope you cut that one, cause I’ll listen to it DAILY.
