Guy Transforms Sum 41’s “Fat Lip” Into A Country Song… And It’s Actually Pretty Damn Catchy

He’s back.

Alex Melton has gained nearly 200 thousand subscribers on YouTube making solo full band covers where he flips the genre on the song he’s covering.

Some of my favorite performances are those classic pop punk songs turned into modern day pop country songs, and vise versa.

He took Blink 182’s “First Date” and made it into a pretty decent country song, as well as Dixie Chicks’ “Wide Open Spaces,” and made it punk. He also did Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Going Down” and turned it into “Sugar, We’re Going Down Yonder.”

And yeah, it would be great if he could take these classic punk songs and turn them into real deal, traditional country songs, but not everybody can play the steel guitar or the fiddle, right? And to be honest, he actually kind of gives me a bit of a Logan Mize vibe at times.

Anyways, he’s back today with a pop country version of Sum 41’s 2001 hit single “Fat Lip.”

The nostalgia is real…
