UPDATE: Houston Tiger Roaming Neighborhood In Viral Video Has Finally Been Found

I love a story with a happy ending.

And today, I’ve got a good one for ya.

Remember early last week, when we told you about the Bengal tiger named India who had been spotted roaming around a Houston-area neighborhood?

And then, we found out that her owner, a man named Victor Cuevas, was actually an alleged murderer and was out of jail on $250,000 bail. It became a massive story, and we even had Carole Baskin on CNN throwing in her two cents in on the matter.

Well, according to HuffPost, police finally located India after a nearly week-long search. And I’m just wondering, if you live in Houston, how have you been sleeping for the past week or so know knowing a tiger could be chilling in your backyard?

Anyways, he was being held at Houston’s animal shelter, BARC, for the past few days after Cuevas’ wife, Giorgiana, turned him over and notified officials that she was in possession of the tiger. Police are still trying to determine where exactly India was being held in the interim time they were searching for him.

I’m not married, so I guess this could be what they mean by “for better or worse,” but I feel like it’s hard enough to get a man to take care of a dog or cat, much less a whole-ass tiger. If my husband tried to hand off a tiger to me, let me tell you, it wouldn’t have taken a week for the authorities to be notified they needed to come get it (and him).

Cuevas’ attorney, Michael W. Elliott, claims that his client was not the primary owner of India, though he did participate in some of the care and always treated him well.

India is a 9-month-old tiger, and will be living at the Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas from now on. The senior director there, Noelle Almrud, said he will be well taken care of:

“Black Beauty Ranch will provide safe sanctuary for him and give him a proper diet, enrichment, an expansive naturally wooded habitat where he can safely roam and will provide everything else he needs to be the healthy wild tiger he deserves to be.”

Maybe put an emphasis on the “safely roam” part. I’m just glad he didn’t end up at Big Cat Rescue
