Perhaps one of the best non-racing aspects of a NASCAR race is getting to see which celebrity is gonna get the chance to kick things off.
I remember being a little kid, playing with my Hot Wheels cars, and always pretending to be the guy who yells:
“GENTLEMEN. START. YOUR. ENGINES.”
And now, we have stone-cold legend getting the chance to kick start a NASCAR race:
The one and only, Matthew McConaughey.
Via Instagram story, he announced that he’ll be the Grand Marshal at Austin’s inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at COTA on Sunday, May 23rd.
I mean, could you pick a more perfect Texan than this? The guy can do it all…
McConaughey also served as grand marshal for the Daytona 500 in 2005.
Alright, Alright, Alright!
