Another day, another American Idol contestant making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

During the 2020 season of American Idol, we saw a contestant named Doug Kiker, a garbage man from Alabama, sing Rascal Flatt’s “Bless The Broken Road” so good that he brought judge Katy Perry to tears.

However now, he’s been charged with domestic violence in his home town of Mobile, Alabama, according to police.

According to TMZ, Police Lieutenant Matthew James stated that Kiker was charged yesterday for misdemeanor domestic violence, and he’s now in jail with $1,000 bond.

The altercation involved Kiker and an adult woman, who called 911. When police arrived on the scene they determined that they had enough evidence to arrest him on the spot.

This truly is sad to see, as his story was so inspirational. It also comes after contestant Cecil Ray was arrested for breaking and entering, Wyatt Pike mysteriously left the show after fight rumors, and most recently, Caleb Kennedy leaving the show after an old video surfaced of him with a friend in a white KKK hood.

Tough times for American Idol contestants right now…

Came a long way since that first audition…
