The ‘Marfa Tapes’ Trio Deliver Live Performance Of Brand New Song “Geraldene” On ‘Ellen’

The Marfa Tapes trio took over daytime TV today.

Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” in promotion of their new album that’s set to be released next Friday, May 7th, singing “Geraldene”.

They just dropped the track as a surprise last night, and it was something to behold watching those Texans tear it up on Ellen. Of course, the cowboy hats and acoustic guitars were plentiful as Miranda sang about Geraldene trying to take her man with some of the funniest, most descriptive lyrics I’ve heard in a while:

“If I was a man I’d made you my Dallas Alice
I’d put a leftover pawn shop ring on your left hand
You’re never gonna be the backstage babe at the Crystal Palace
You’re too late baby, I’m the only bitch in the band”

It’s really cool for them to get the opportunity to play their music to a national audience. I’m sure there were lots of people who saw the performance that don’t know much about country music or this new project, so that in and of itself made it worth watching. You couldn’t pick a better group, or better music, to represent the genre right now.

Of course, it follows their recent knockout performance of “In His Arms” on the ACM’s.
