Chris & Morgane Stapleton Join Actor Leslie Jordan For Gospel Hymn, “Farther Along”

Take ’em to church.

Chris and Morgane Stapleton recently joined actor Leslie Jordan for a spirited rendition of the classic hymn, “Farther Along.”

Actual authorship is disputed, but the earliest print copy of the song is found in the 1911 hymnal Select Hymns for Christian Worship and General Gospel Service. And while the origins remain fuzzy, the notoriety of the classic hymn are undisputed. It’s been covered by everyone Hank Williams and Glen Campbell, to Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Brad Paisley.

And to nobody’s surprise, it was pure joy for Leslie to work with Chris and Morgane:

“Chris and Morgane Stapleton are ‘staple’ treasures of the country music universe and this album would not have been complete without the sweet, appealing harmony of their voices. But, in addition to their voices, they bring the sweet, appealing presence of themselves, and I just love them.”

You may recognize Leslie from his work in Will & Grace, American Horror Story, Reba, The Cool Kids and more, but he’ll also be releasing a gospel album titled Company’s Comin’.

Featuring more collaborations including Brandi Carlile, TJ Osborne, Ashley McBryde, Charlie Worsham, Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker and more, Company’s Comin’ is set for release on April 2nd.
