New York Brewery Introduces “Brew Dogs” To Deliver Beer During The Pandemic

Talkin’ about the goodest good boys.

Mark and Karen Heuwetter are the founders and owners of Six Harbors Brewing Company in New York, and like most businesses, they had to close their doors due to state ordinances for COVID-19.

Before the pandemic, the brewery was famous for customers being greeted by Mark and Karen’s golden retrievers, Buddy and Barley. Now that the brewery is restricted to deliveries and curbside pickup, they discovered one of the most genius tactics in the world: Have Buddy and Barley deliver the beer to their customers’ doorsteps.

Okay, the “Brew Dogs” can’t actually deliver a real six-pack to the customer’s door because it’s too heavy, but the Heuwetters trained them to carry a beer can prop to the customer’s door while Mark or Karen would bring the actual beer.

Talk about adorable.

This method was so awesome, it became headlines for various media outlets all across New York, and even landed them a spot on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Needless to say, Clarkson couldn’t handle the cuteness.

On the show, Mark had this to say about business and community reaction:

“We had to change our business model, so with a lot of local support from our customers and our neighbors around us, it really helped with the turnaround of our business and the dogs have been a big success and big part of that turnaround.

I think, more importantly, people want to see the dogs more than get the beer so they get the beer to see the dogs.”

He then adds that it was almost like therapy for the customers. I know I could’ve used this around mid-May last year.

Beer and golden retrievers? Count me in.
