Some awful news out of Los Angeles today…

Golf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a severe single-car accident early this morning.

According to L.A. County police reports, Wood’s car rolled over on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in Los Angeles. Responders had to use the “jaws of life” to free Woods from the vehicle.

The vehicle sustained major damage, and Woods was sent to the hospital to treat multiple leg injuries and is currently in surgery. At this point, it is unclear what exactly caused the accident, however police are investigating the situation now. According to CNN, his injuries ranger from “moderate to critical,” although they appear to be “non-life-threatening.”

Woods was in Los Angeles for his annual Genesis Invitational Tournament held at Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.

According to Golf Digest, Tiger took some pictures with celebrities but with his movement still restricted, he did not hit balls or play any holes. He also gave some on-course lessons to a number of celebrities, and took a few putts.

Despite his serous injuries, it appears that Woods is responsive, according to his agent Mark Steinberg:

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”

The helicopter footage from the accident has since been released and it looks pretty bad.

Thoughts and prayers are with Tiger, you just hate to see something like this.
