Daytona 500: A Massive 16-Car Wreck Halts The Race Just 14 Laps In

Helluva start to the Daytona 500 this afternoon.

After just 14 laps, a massive 16-car pileup brought the race to a standstill ending the day early for a number of drivers.

In addition to Almirola and Bowman, who were at the center of the crash, other drivers involved included Martin Truex Jr., Ryan Blaney, Ryan Newman, William Byron, Matt DiBenedetto, Daniel Suárez, Kurt Busch, Jamie McMurray, Erik Jones, Tyler Reddick, Chris Buescher and David Ragan.

Cope, Almirola, Ragan, Blaney, Suarez, Jones, Bowman, Newman are out of the race.

Immediately after the wreck, rain and lighting moved in and suspended the race indefinitely. Stay tuned for the restart.
