If this doesn’t sum up the times we’re living in right now, I don’t know what does.
According to Mirror, a garbage man was fired after he kicked the living hell out a of a snowman on the trash route. Apparently the stunt left a three-year-old in tears, however the garbage man says he isn’t sorry about it.
“I don’t think I have to say I’m sorry. His family knew it was not going to be there forever. The snowman was obstructing my path. I decided to kick it because I didn’t think it was going to hurt anyone’s feelings. I don’t think that snowmen have feelings… It was going to melt and snow again, I didn’t think it would make such an impact on a three-year-old kid.”
The 19-year-old garbage man is expecting a child of his own, but that didn’t stop his boss from kicking his ass to the curb.
“The outcome is I’ve lost my job. I didn’t think it was legal to sack me for kicking a snowman. When I said to my boss ‘I’ve got a family I need this job’ he said ‘I don’t give a shit.’
I’m willing to build the parents a new snowman for their son. They have been more cold-hearted to me than I have to them.”
Yeesh…
I mean, everybody loves karate kicking the head off a snowman, and after the kind of year we’re all having, I can’t even imagine how good that must’ve felt. What I wouldn’t give to kick the head off a snowman right now. And garbage man isn’t exactly the most glamorous job in the world either. How many times to do you think this kid thanked him for picking up the trash? I’m gonna go with a hard zero. Not to mention there isn’t any snow left on the ground… it’s pretty obvious Frosty’s days were numbered.
Still you can’t go around kicking heads off of snowman on company time. Not a good good look for the company. Should he have been fired? I don’t know… seems like a pretty harmless incident. Maybe put him on truck cleaning duty for a couple weeks or whatever other shit tasks garbage man can do, especially with a kid on the way.
But I imagine his charming personality doesn’t do him any favors with management…
That’s 2021 for you though…
