According to the Wichita Eagle, a multi-year investigation resulted in John Blick Jr. pleading guilty to the poaching of 60 whitetail and mule deer, as well as possession of a firearm as a felon.
Facing 139 counts, he was sentenced to 14 months in prison and a fine of $310,000, the estimated value of the deer. Blick was also charged and plead guilty to 33 misdemeanors, resulting in an additional $15,000 worth of fines and restitution to the amount of $17,407.04 for the 3 trophy deer that he killed. He will also lose his hunting privileges for 5 years from the date of his conviction.
60 deer, illegal possession of a firearm and use of a spotlight… you’d think he would land himself in a little more trouble. And five years? Also seems a little light if you ask me.
