Josh Turner Performs The Chris Stapleton-Penned Hit “Your Man”

“Baby lock the doors and turn the lights down low…”

Released in 2005, “Your Man” was the lead single from Turner’s 2006 album of the same name. That deep baritone voice gives it that signature Josh Turner sound, but the song was actually written by another great voice, arguably the best voice in country music… Chris Stapleton.

“You might know one of the songwriters of “Your Man”… a guy by the name of Chris Stapleton. When my producer first played me this song in the studio it was a guitar/vocal demo of Chris singing on it. Great song, great performance, but I had a hard time hearing it for me.

My producer told me to take it home that night, live with it and try it in a different key. We cut it the next day. As soon as I heard the tracks and Steve Hinson’s steel I said “this is a big ole hit.” Thanks to the writers Chris Stapleton, Chris DuBois and Jace Everett for this song.”

That’s a damn country song.
