Throwback To Riley Green’s Rap Verse (Yes, A Rap Verse) In “Trouble With You”

Singer, songwriter, hunter, fisherman, even mustache aficionado.

All words that come to mind when I think of the multi-talented, rising country star Riley Green. But, did you know that rapper was on the list as well? Yep, the avid outdoorsmen and “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died” singer can, indeed, rap.

On his Bury Me in Dixie EP, originally released in 2015, he gives us a little taste of his rap skills on a song called “Trouble With You.” At first glance, it sounds like a standard country song about about a guy wanting to run wild with a girl he met at a bar.

But then, he hits you with the curveball in the third verse:

“But I gotta wild hair, and the only way to fix it,
Is picking you up, so I think I’m gonna risk it,
Top of my lungs Free Bird and Curtis Loew,
Drivin’ nintety-five, throwing empties through the window.
Whisky Bent and I’m feeling Hell Bound,
I ain’t stopping ’til I hear a slow down.”

Something to behold.

Will his next album (which is hopefully coming sooner, rather than later), feature a rap verse as well? Only time will tell…
