This Bluegrass Cover Of MGMT’s “Kids” Is Pretty Damn Good

Been diggin’ me some bluegrass lately.

Between Sturgill Simpson’s new Cuttin’ Grass project, some Billy Strings and even Dierks Bentley’s old Up On The Ridge album, I’ve just found myself listening to a lot more lately.

Enter The HillBenders.

A bluegrass group out of Missouri, The HillBenders recorded a cover of the 2008 MGMT hit “Kids.” From their 2007 album Oracular Spectacular, “Kids” was a Grammy-nominated hit single from the indie-electronic group, and one of their most popular songs. When I moved to Chicago in 2007, they were all the rage.

It’s been featured in a millions different things from video games to commercials, it’s been covered by everybody and their mother, but I gotta say, this bluegrass version just works.

The vocals on the live video are a little hard to hear, so here’s the studio version.
