On This Date: Alan Jackson Releases The 1991 Hit Single “Dallas”

Takin’ it back to 1991.

When it comes to Alan Jackson, you have your “Chattahoochee,” your “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow,” your “Drive,” but nobody ever talks about “Dallas.” Why the hell not?

Written by Alan and Keith Stegall, “Dallas” was released 29 years ago today on his Don’t Rock The Jukebox album. It went on to become Alan’s 4th-career number one single, and 4th consecutive in a long line of heaters.

Inspired by a show at Billy Bob’s in Dallas, Alan Jackson said after the show that he wished “Dallas was in Tennessee” and that sparked an idea for the song.

And the rest is history.
