4 Shania Twain Hits Singles That Shockingly Never Went #1

Shania Twain

Let’s go girls.

With numerous records broken, an impressive collection of awards won, and overall international success unlike pretty much anybody in the history of country music (and really music in general), Shania Twain has proven herself as one of the most successful country artists of all time.

But, some of her biggest hits surprisingly did NOT go number one. I’m talking some of the all-time biggest hits from the artist with the best-selling country album of ALL TIME. In fact, she only has a handful of number ones singles across her entire country music career (on the American Country charts of course).

Why? I have no idea.

Here’s four of the more surprising ones…

“Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”

This one should shock everyone. “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” is arguably Shania’s most well-known and loved song of all time, yet back in 1999, the single only reached #4 on the country charts.

“Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy-forget I’m a lady
Men’s shirts-short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild-yeah, doin’ it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in the action-feel the attraction
Color my hair-do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free-yeah, to feel the way I feel
Man! I feel like a woman!”

“Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”

Another absolute smash from Shania, this 1995 single didn’t even break the top 10 on the country charts. “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” may have only hit #11 on the charts, yet it has stuck with most country fans for life.

“Whose bed have your boots been under?
And whose heart did you steal I wonder?
This time did it feel like thunder, baby?
And who did you run to?
And whose lips have you been kissin’?
And whose ear did you make a wish in?
Is she the one that you’ve been missin’, baby?
Well whose bed have your boots been under?”

“That Don’t Impress Me Much”

Again, what a huge career-shaping song for Shania. A lot of people know and love this song thanks to her snarky reference to Brad Pitt, but it is truly a classic. “That Don’t Impress Me Much” hit #8 on the country charts in 1998, adding to the handful of successful singles from Shania’s 1997 Come On Over album. And let’s not forget about her iconic leopard print ensemble that she wore in the music video.

“That don’t impress me much
So you got the looks, but have you got the touch
Now don’t get me wrong, yeah, I think you’re alright
But that won’t keep me warm in the middle of the night
That don’t impress me much.”

“Party for Two” with Billy Currington

Back in 2004, Shania released “Party for Two” as a part of her Greatest Hits album. She invited Billy Currington to sing with her on the song for the country radio single, and she also recorded an alternate version with Mark McGrath. “Party for Two” peaked at #7 on the charts and still remains a fan favorite.

“It doesn’t matter what you wear
‘Cause it’s only gonna be
You and me there (Whoa!)
I’m having a party
A party for two
Invitin’ nobody
Nobody but you”
