Large Explosion Rocks Downtown Nashville On Christmas Morning

A fire in a street

Devastating scene to wake up to on Christmas morning.

An explosion rocked Nashville just a block from the honky tonks on Lower Broadway this morning around 6:30 AM. Reports are that the explosion occurred near 2nd and Commerce, but the blast was felt miles away and the smoke can be seen rising out of the downtown area from all over the city.

There are also reports that a building has collapsed.

It’s still way too early to speculate exactly what happened, but according to The Metro Nashville Office of Emergency Management’s district chief, a parked RV exploded near 2nd Avenue and Commerce Street, damaging multiple buildings in the area.

Reports of gunfire have also surfaced.

Whatever the cause, the pictures coming out of Nashville right now are just absolutely devastating.

Prayers to everybody in the area.

What a terrible thing to wake up to on Christmas day.
