2020 has been an absolute shit show, bars and restaurants are closed, and man do I miss the feeling of have a cold pint in shithole dive bar. But… that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped drinking beer. No, people are doing it at home. In fact, beer and alcohol consumption has been on the rise this year.
According to SmartAsset, beer sales are way up this year, and that’s no surprise… there’s nothing do other than drink. Couple that with the stress and anxiety of navigating a global pandemic and it’s not hard to see why the country has been boozing it up.
āThrough the first half of 2020, beer sales in the U.S. rose about 16% compared to the same period in 2019, according to Chicago-based market research firm IRI. Though lock-down orders and restrictions on bars and restaurants have changed the way Americans are drinking, theyāre still spending their money to quench their thirst for a frothy pint.ā
However, SmartAssest has once again compiled the best beer cities in America, based on a number of metrics including number of breweries, costs, and beers per brewery.

Ohio and Colorado are leading the way with five cities in the top 50, California has four, New York, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Washington all have three, and Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Tennessee, each have two.
