When it comes to Christmas music, we all know that most of it sucks.
Sure, you got your Alan Jackson Christmas records, your Alabama Christmas, maybe a little George Strait on Christmas morning, but at the end of the day, nobody is going to pay good money to hear “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Give them a little Robert Earl Keen and suddenly you have a sold-out crowd feeling all kinds of holly and jolly.
As far as good, original, Christmas tunes go, REK’s way too relatable “Merry Christmas From The Family” is one of the best.
“A can of bean dip and some Diet Rites A box of tampons and some Marlboro Lights Hallelujah, everybody say, “Cheese” Merry Christmas from the family.”
And as far as cover versions go, Cody’s is one of the best.
