Ronnie Dunn’s Cover Of Sugarland’s 2007 Hit “Stay” Is Insanely Good

That’s a damn country song right there.

In the mid-2000s, Sugarland was one of the premiere duos in country music. Snagging up awards left and right, Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles won Top Vocal Duo a handful of times at the ACM and CMA Awards from 2006-2011, and were nominated many other times as well.

And while they probably are best known for their early hits like “Baby Girl,” “Something More,” (when they were a trio), and “Want To,” their 2007 hit single “Stay” will always be their number one song in my opinion.

Written solely by Jennifer Nettles, “Stay” went on to earn the duo a multiple Grammy wins, as well as ACM and CMA Award wins.

And while we all know Jennifer knocks it out of the park, today, I stumbled upon a performance from the great Ronnie Dunn at the ACM Girls Night Out’ television special.

“Jennifer, my love… You’ve been an incredible friend to me, and it’s an honor to sing this song tonight. I hope I can do it justice.”

And justice was done.

That Ronnie Dunn voice… it’s one in a million.

And of course, the original.
