Chris Stapleton’s Version Of “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground” Will Stop You In Your Tracks

Chris Stapleton and Willie Nelson seem to be dominating the headlines lately.

Of course, Chris just releases his incredible studio album Starting Over back in November, and then just this past week, Willie’s tribute concert from last year, Willie Nelson American Outlawwas finally released as well.

And that tribute album features a Chris Stapleton performance of “Whiskey River” as well as a duet of “Always On My Mind.”

But today, we’re taking it back to George Strait’s Hurricane Harvey relief concert in 2017 and another Willie Nelson cover from Chris. A cover of Willie’s 1981 hit “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.”

I’m convinced that Chris could sing the phonebook and it would sound incredible, but man there is just something about the way he does a Willie tune that makes you feel something deep down in your soul. I would NOT be mad if Chris ever wanted go into the studio and record this one (guitar solo included)… just sayin’.

The original.
