But wait, there’s more.
We just showed you Scotty McCreery’s tribute performance of “Five More Minutes,” one that he dedicated to Charley Pride at the Grand Ole Opry this evening. But shortly after when Chris Young took the stage, he took the opportunity as well to honor Charley’s memory, performing a cover of “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin.'”
“Sadly today we learned of the passing of a true country icon, Mr. Charley Pride. Country music has truly lost a legend and we’d like to honor him with one of his songs tonight.”
Written by Ben Peters, “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin'” was released by Charley in 1971, the lead single from his Charley Pride Sings Heart Songs album. It went on to become arguably the biggest hit of Charley’s career.
The performance begins around the 57-minute mark.
