Chris Stapleton Serves Up Some Tasty Blues Licks With “Devil Always Made Me Think Twice” Performance

Now that we’ve had about a month to digest this new Chris Stapleton record, it’s gonna be pretty hard to argue that it’s not in the conversation for “Album of the Year.”

By whatever standard you measure, Chris is the total package, and he’s demonstrated it once again with his 4th-career studio album Starting Over.

Last night, Chris stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for a bluesy, performance of “Devil Always Made Me Think Twice.” Written by Chris and Al Anderson, “Devil Always Made Think Twice,” will probably fall into that “album cut” realm over the lifespan of this record, but for my money, it’s one of the best tracks on the record.

Featuring those tasty blues licks and that signature Chris Stapleton growl, Chris continues to prove why he’s in a league of his own.

“Mama always set a good example
Daddy always gave me good advice
Jesus tried to steer me in the right direction
But the devil always made me think twice
Devil always made me think.”
