Miranda was largely shut out from last night’s CMA Awards.
She did take home the award for Music Video of the Year, a consolation prize compared to the number of nominations she had, but for many country music fans, myself included, her lack of wins was a bit of a head scratcher. I’m not quite sure how she didn’t take home Female Vocalist (or Carrie for that matter), but that’s a conversation for another time.
However, she did perform her new single “Settlin’ Down” during the show, and for my money, it was one of the better performances of the night. Stripped down to just acoustic guitar and an accompanying electric guitar, the “less is more” approach seemed to work pretty well last night.
Chris Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini, among others took the same approach, and it paid off as well.
Her husband Brendan also recently made his music video debut in Miranda’s new “Settlin’ Down” video.
