Jon Pardi Honors The Late, Great Joe Diffie With Tribute Performance Of “Pickup Man”

Fiddle, steel, a cowboy hat… by God, is that a country song?

Last night’s CMA Awards featured a ton of tributes to artists like Kenny Rogers, Mac Davis, and Charlie Daniels (they shit the bed on John Prine, but that’s another story). And then you had Jon Pardi, who delivered a full throttle, country as dirt, tribute performance to the late, great Joe Diffie.

Singing the 1994 classic “Pickup Man,” Pardi had Ashley McByrde, Luke Combs’ wife Nicole, TJ Osborne, and more on their feet. And as much as you would’ve liked to hear Jon sing a tune from his Album of the Year-nominated Heartache Medication record, it was one of the performances of the night for me.

Honestly though, does anybody do ’90s country covers like Pardi does? I don’t think so…

For real though…
