Eric Church Toasts To The Fans At The Live Show With New “Through My Ray-Bans”

Purple?

Eric just threw a big wrench in my double album theory... but more on that later.

If you remember back to this past April, Eric shared a bone-chilling battle cry titled, “Who Will Answer The Call,” urging fans not to give into the fear. The video was a response to the pause that Coronavirus has put on the music industry, and Eric premiered the video with a teaser of a song called “Through My Ray-Bans.”

“We shall rage, we shall roar, I can’t wait to see you again, through my Ray Bans.”

And today, that song is finally here. However, it wasn’t written about the Rona, it was written for the fan at Route 91. But given the times we’re living, and the complete absence of live music, it couldn’t be more relevant.

“Everybody’s got their arms around everybody else’s shoulders,
Guarding against the world outside, like an army of Friday night soldiers
The battle wages tomorrow, but tonight we’ve got a drink in our hands
wish you could stay the way I see you through my Ray-Bans.”

However, with the release of two red songs, and two blue songs, and now a purple song… I have no idea what we can expect from Eric. A triple album? Do the colors mean nothing? Of course red and blue make purple, but at the end of the day, I’m sure where we go from here…

What I do know…. is that I can’t wait to see how it all shakes out.

Here’s the original teaser.
