Out of all the storylines in Paramount Network’s hit series Yellowstone, the relationship between John Dutton and his grandson Tate might be the most overlooked… it also might be one of the most important.
If you’re reading this, I’m going to assume you’re a fan of the show (why else would you read about a kid and his grandpa in a show that you don’t watch), but if you’re still catching up, this is your official spoiler alert.
You’ve been warned, moving on…
Season 3’s insane ending left us with a million question, no answers, and no real clue where the show is headed. But one thing is for sure, Tate Dutton is the heir to the Dutton empire. Lee is dead, Beth can’t have children, Jaime is adopted, and he may or may not have tried to kill his entire family. So Kacey’s son Tate is going to be given the keys to the kingdom as soon as he’s is old enough to handle it. And with the way Season 3 ended (and the amount of times Kacey gets shot at), that might be sooner than we think.
Either way, the relationship between John and his grandson is paramount (no pun intended) to the overall arc of this story. Which is why this new 15-minute John and Tate highlight reel is so awesome. Titled “A Grandpa’s Story: John & Tate,” it recaps their entire journey together.
“Their relationship started out a bit rocky, but John and Tate have developed a very special bond that’s become central to the Dutton family.”
Season 4, which Paramount Network has revealed might end up in more of a long-form format has already started filming, but in the meantime, you can check out their other highlight videos with Rip’s “Fierce Loyalty,” Rip and Beth’s love story set to Tyler Childers’ “Lady May,” and “10 Times Beth Dutton Was The Ultimate Badass.”
