The country music community lost another member if its family this week.
Mac Davis, the well-known songwriter that has penned tunes for Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Tom Jones, Johnny Cash and more, passed away on Tuesday night following a heart surgery. He was 78 years old.
Fellow country singers shared their condolences with a various tributes on social media. Dolly called Mac “one of the world’s greatest writers, singers and entertainers.” Jake Owen and Kenny Chesney both expressed heartbreak for their friend.

I am heartbroken this morning learning of the passing of my friend Mac Davis. He was an incredible songwriter and guitar player. He’d penned songs for Elvis to Avicii. More importantly, he was a great husband and a father. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Love ya Mac
