To be honest, I’m not really sure what makes this a Western Version per se, but I dig the hell out of it.
It kicks off with a little bit of Spanish guitar flavor, builds much more over the length of the entire song, utilizes more front and center piano work, and then finishes strong with the fiddles.
I think it’s safe to say that at this point, Pardi just doesn’t miss.
Heartache Medication has been one of my favorite albums of the past few years, his new cover album, the Rancho Fiesta Sessions is actual fire, and now this alternate version of “Ain’t Always The Cowboy” just Pardi doin’ what he does best.
Making damn good country music.
Of course, here’s the album version.
Whiskey Riff is the most entertaining country site…ever.
