1996 Was Straight FIRE

A group of people

Who heard it?

If you start running through the list of great ’90s country songs, you’re gonna find this… 1996 was straight up GAS. I’m talking nothing but pure, unadulterated, glorious, sex and gasoline, explosive, straight up fucking FIRE.

We got all the hitters of the day, Garth, Strait, Big Al, Reba, Shania, Kix and Ronnie, Pam Tillis, Diffie, Tracy, Randy Travis, Deana, Trisha, Tritt, Jo Dee, and more. And then, you even had artists like Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw who are still some of the biggest artists in country music today.

But obviously 1996 was filled with the best artists of the ’90s, just like every other year in the decade, but look at some of these songs.

Hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit after hit… I could on like that forever. Alan Jackson’s “Little Bitty,” Garth’s “Beaches of Cheyenne,” Joe Diffie’s “Bigger Than The Beatles,” Faith Hill’s “It Matters To Me,” Strait’s “Carried Away,” Rhett Akins’ “She Said Yes,” Daryle Singletary’s “Too Much Fun,” and a ton more. That’s not even scratching the surface.

Happy Thursday.

Let’s have a few lunch beers and turn up the ’90s country.

“Blue Clear Sky”

“Heads Carolina, Tails California”

“My Maria”

“Strawberry Wine”
