Fresh off the announcement of his upcoming album, A Rock, Hardy is giving fans a preview of what’s to come with the release of “Give Heaven Some Hell.”
And while it doesn’t necessarily sound like it from a cursory listen, it’s a heavy one. Written by Michael Hardy, Ben Johnson, Hunter Phelps, Ashley Gorley, the song is for anybody that had to say goodbye to someone too soon. It balances the heartache of losing someone special, but also reminds the listener to celebrate their life as well.
“I hope you hit those gold streets on two wheels,
I hope your mansion in the sky’s got a ten-acre field With some mud and some hubs you can lock in,
Make some thunder, make ’em wonder how you got in Hide your beer, hide your clear from the man upstairs,
Crank it loud, hold it down till I get there And when I do I hope you got some new stories to tell,
Till then, give heaven some hell.”
The new music video, which is set at a funeral, also stars Hardy’s real-life friends:
“‘Give Heaven Some Hell’ is one of my favorite songs I have ever written & having my buddies in the music video meant a whole lot. If you’ve ever lost a friend or someone you love, I hope this helps you & gives ya hope. Check it out and let me know what y’all think.”
A Rock featuring his current single “One Beer,” the previously released “Boots” and “Give Heaven Some Hell” is set to drop on September 4th.
