Remembering Chris Cornell With Cody Jinks & Paul Cauthen’s Incredible Cover Of “Black Hole Sun”

In honor of Chris Cornell’s birthday today (he would’ve been 56), we’re taking a look back at one of my (and many others’) all-time favorites.

“Black Hole Sun”

Chris, the talented frontman of Soundgarden and Audioslave, passed away back in the spring of 2017 due to suicide. A 5-hour tribute concert was held in his honor last year featuring Foo Fighters, Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, Metallica and more, but there was another tribute performance that I immediately fell in love with.

Cody Jinks and Paul Cauthen.

Shortly after his death, the pair released this powerful tribute performance honoring a truly iconic artist that influenced many across all genres of music.

“Got with Paul Cauthen to celebrate the life and music of Chris Cornell. I’m heartbroken along with many thousands of people who woke up today and realized Cornell is still gone.”

A truly transcendent artist.

Happy Birthday Chris. We still miss you.
