Brantley Gilbert Honors Charlie Daniels With Acoustic Performance Of “Long Haired Country Boy”

Man, it’s been a rough year for country music… and we’re not even through July yet.

Kenny Rogers, Joe Diffie, John Prine and most recently, Charlie Daniels have all passed away in the past few months, each one inspiring countless artists across the wide spectrum of country music.

We miss them all, but their legacy will forever live on through the music they have made.

Brantley Gilbert teamed up with his guitarist Jess Franklin to pay homage to the great Charlie Daniels with an acoustic performance of his iconic hit, “Long Haired Country Boy.”

“Charlie Daniels is a legend of country music. Put together this cover with Jesse Franklin to honor the man he was and the music he made. Both will inspire me forever. RIP Charlie Daniels.”

“Long Haired Country Boy” was written and record for Charlie Daniels Band’s 1974 album Fire On The Mountain and then released as a single in 1975. It was also re-released as a single in 1980. Since then, it has been covered by a TON of country artists, including Jamey Johnson, Travis Tritt and more, and was even recorded by Cody Johnson for his 2019 album, Ain’t Nothin’ To It.
