Cody Jinks Covers Randy Travis’ “He Walked On Water” With One Helluva Surprise Guest In The Room

Another fantastic edition of Sequestered Songwriters went down last night, and this time, they were paying homage to one of the all-time greats, and one of my all-time favorites.

If you’re not familiar, Sequestered Songwriters is a weekly guitar pull featuring some of the best artists in Texas and each week, they pick one artist to collectively cover. They’ve dedicated sessions to Willie Nelson, George Strait, Dolly Parton and more, but last night, the performances were dedicated to the music of Randy Travis.

By the way, if you tune in next Monday, July 13th, the gang will be tipping their caps to the late great Charlie Daniels.

But anyways, back to Randy.

Last night’s performers included Cody Canada, Jamie Lin Wilson, Josh Grider, Ward Davis, Jason Eady, Courtney Patton, and more, but it was Cody Jinks who came through with the highlight of the night.

“Been really looking forward to this one, I look forward to all of them, but this one is Randy friggin’ Travis.”

Cody went on to deliver an emotional introduction about how much Randy has influenced his career. From the first song her ever tried to sing, to meeting him as a grown man, it’s pretty clear that Randy’s music has had a profound impact on Cody.

He then went on to cover Randy’s “He Waked On Water,” but wait until the very end… there’s one hell of a surprise.
