President Trump called Wallace to “apologize” to his fellow drivers and NASCAR officials for supporting him during the noose incident “hoax,” as he put it. He also called into question NASCAR’s decision to ban the display of Confederate flags saying it has “caused the lowest ratings ever.”
Has @BubbaWallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX? That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!
NASCAR statement: “We are proud to have Bubba Wallace in the NASCAR family and we commend his courage and leadership. NASCAR continues to stand tall with Bubba, our competitors and everyone who makes our sport welcoming and inclusive for all racing fans.”
Tyler Reddick initially showed his support for Bubba against the President, but has since deleted his tweet.
The tweet from Reddick has now been deleted.
I speculate that @RCRracing had him delete it, which saddens me because it showed integrity and to me, was not political, just supportive of his friend. If RCR denies they had him delete it I’ll withdraw my speculation. pic.twitter.com/bLhmdJeHGh
