Dixie Chicks Change Name To “The Chicks” & Drop Politically Charged New Song “March March”

The Chicks

Welp, it appears as though the Dixie Chicks are no more.

After pushing back the new record, their first in 14 years, the Dixie Chicks have officially dropped the “Dixie” from their name and will simply go by “The Chicks.”

Obviously, this move comes in light of the long overdue conversation on racial injustice that’s going on in the wake of the horrific George Floyd murder, but in addition to the name change, the trio also debuted a new song from their upcoming album Gaslighter titled “March March,” which addresses topics like gun control, women’s rights, and President Trump’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland.

They offered the statement “we want to meet this moment,” regarding the change.

Lady Antebellum has also recently changed their name, dropping the “Antebellum” part of their name, a term for the Pre-Civil War era of the South. They will go by Lady A moving forward.

Gaslighter is now set to drop on July 17th.
