ESPN Premieres ‘Long Gone Summer’ Trailer, Their Upcoming Documentary On The 1998 Home Run Race

Aside from the Cubs winning the World Series a few years back, I can’t remember a more magical time to be a baseball fan than 1998.

I was 10 years old, a die-hard Cubs fan, but more than that, I just loved baseball. I loved playing it as a kid, watching it on TV, and going to Wrigley Field was like going to Disney World for me.

And ESPN is going to give us all the opportunity to relive that magic with the latest installment of their incredible 30 For 30 series. Titled Long Gone Summer (seems appropriate right about now too), they’re going to walk us through the epic 1998 home run race between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire.

Two guys chasing Roger Maris’ single season home run record, one that hadn’t been touched since Roger hit 61 in 1961.

And the first trailer is HERE.

Long Gone Summer premieres on June 14th at 9pm on ESPN.

Get excited.
