It’s happening people, it’s happening.

“Get your Zyrtec ready cuz we cuttin’ that grass.”

Sturgill Simpson shared a video walking into the studio this morning with his drummer Miles Miller, producer David Ferguson, Tim O’Brien, Stuart Duncan, bassist Mike Bub, and more. And if you recognize any of those names, you know that Sturgill is about to make himself a bluegrass album… or at least a few bluegrass tunes.

Thanks to contributions from the fans, Sturgill was able to raise a shit-ton of money (something to the tune of $230,000) for various charities, and he’s already working on fulfilling his promise to the fans to record an album this year.

And all you that were bitchin’ and moanin’ about it being “old Sturgill,” he’s going to do you one better and cut his entire back catalog, bluegrass style.

“Y’all raised a Scrooge McDuck pile of $$$ to help a lot people in need and I promised you a record this year. So I’m taking a detour from the five album plan to cut my entire back catalog of songs for you guys the way they were written and meant to be played… ruff, rugged, n’ raw. More good news coming soon. In the meantime lets all try to live above hell.”

Get excited.

Oh, and this Instagram post will probably get deleted… I’ve come to realize Sturgill deletes most of them.
