Thomas Rhett’s Unreleased “More Time Fishin” Is Another Step In The Right Direction

Thomas Rhett has been sharing a ton of new stuff lately, and for the most part, it’s been a pretty encouraging to see where his music might be heading. After all, he’s one of the biggest things in country music, and the closer he gets to traditional country music, the better the whole genre is for it.

A couple weeks ago, after saying he somewhat rediscovered himself being at home in quarantine,  he shared a new one called “Country Again,” and people were loving it. Even the folks that don’t typically resonate with Thomas Rhett’s music had good things to say about it.

And then before that one, he name-checked some country classics in a song titled, “What’s Your Country Song.”

And while that one didn’t quite have the same response as “Country Again,” we’re starting to see a trend towards the more traditional from Thomas Rhett. It’s a still a long way from Tyler Childers, but a step in the right direction nonetheless.

And the there’s this one, “More Time Fishin.”

If any of these get recorded, the production is what’s going to take it one way or the other, but overall, it seems like we have the framework for a decent country song right here.

Obviously these are just a few acoustic performances and we don’t want to start counting the chickens before they hatch, but this has to be a good sign for the future of country music. With artists like Luke Combs, Jon Pardi and Ashley McBryde already pushing the mainstream pendulum back towards traditional country music, you’d love to see a heavy hitter like Thomas Rhett hop on board as well.

Plus, who doesn’t love fishin?
