I’ve been on the fence about Hardy for quite a while now.
Some songs I like, some I don’t. Some songs I love, and some I don’t really like at all. And I still don’t even really know where I fall either way, but one thing I do know, is this dude can write a song.
Of course, he has quite a few hits under his belt. Songs like Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country” and “Hell Right” come to mind, but even in his own music there’s a unique songwriting ability that feels different from anything in country music right now. The wordplay, the phrasing, the melodies… something is going on here and I like it.
And this new one “Boots,” which sounds pretty rock and roll overall (even getting a little early 2000s punk vibe), is pretty damn catchy too.
“I woke up in my boots this morning
Fell asleep in my boots last night, had a
Feeling that I’ve run out of warnings
Girl, I couldn’t have been more right.”
I mean, who hasn’t been there, right?
