Sturgill Simpson Covers Post Malone’s “Sunflower” (Records It With A Potato)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you’re not following Sturgill Simpson on Instagram, you need to be. He’s been one of the unsung heroes of quality quarantine entertainment.

And last night, Sturgill took a break from the instructional content of his Dick Daddy Survival School (another must-watch), to check out some Spider-Man, crack open a bottle of cabernet sauvignon, and  re-work a cover of Post Malone’s “Sunflower” like you’ve never heard it before.

“Been watching Spider-Verse… 87 times. This one’s for Post Malone #spiderman. Ya’s can just deal with the vid quality… y’all spoiled.”

And as awesome as his Post cover was (love the tempo, seriously please record this), the fans gave him a ton of shit in the comments for the God-awful video quality.

“Did you record this with a brick? Lol.”
“Y’all leave Sturgill alone, he sounds great even if he did record this with a Palm Pre.”
“Cool song , potato quality tho.”
“You filmed this on some sorta hillbilly crank-start android?.”
“Did you record this on a Jitterbug?”

And then there was this guy:

“The video quality is on par with a Pam Anderson sex tape and I’m twice as hard as Tommy Lee in a body bag.”

DEAD.

Sturgill deleted his video from Instagram, but luckily , it’s still around…
