Disney Is Releasing A Live-Action Remake Of ‘Robin Hood’

Oo de lally, oo de lally, golly what a day.

Disney is officially remaking the 1973 classic Robin Hood and I say, it’s about damn time. No shade to Lady & Tramp, Dumbo, whatever… but give me an outlaw fox with a bow and arrow any day. Robbing the rich, stealing the hearts of hot royal maidens, helping the poor, this is the kind of story I can get behind.

According to THR, the film will be directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada and written by Kari Granlund. And similar to many of these new live-animated films, Robin Hood will feature anthropomorphic characters in the new live-action/CG hybrid format.

The film will also air exclusively on Disney+.

Needless to say, I’m PUMPED. But also, who could forget that music? Roger Miller crafted one of the best theme songs in Disney history and now, we’re going to need somebody special to bring “Oo De Lally” back to life.

Enter Sturgill Simpson.

Sturgill Simpson is throwing his hat in the ring for the music on this new one.

“If Disney doesn’t hire me to fill in for Roger Miller as Alan-A-Dale on this Robin Hood remake you can rest assured that all is lost and there is nothin’ left right in this world… Jus’ saying.”

Although, Eric Church recorded his own version of “Oo De Lally” for the Roger Miller tribute record and that was straight up FIRE.

Eric, Sturgill… who ya got?

And here’s the Roger Miller original.
