Dolly Parton Performs “Sweet Music Man” To Honor Late Friend Kenny Rogers

Man, the country music community has taken an absolute beating lately.

In just a few short weeks, we’ve lost Kenny Rogers, Joe Diffie, Jan Howard, and most recently, the great John Prine.

Last night, CMT aired a memorial special titled, CMT Giants Kenny Rogers: A Benefit for MusiCares, paying tribute to the great Kenny Rogers.

Featuring remote performances from Jason Isbell, Lady Antebellum, Randy Houser, Vince Gill, and more, one of the highlights of the night was a performance by Kenny’s good friend, the great Dolly Parton.

Performing “Sweet Music Man,” it was a touching tribute to a very dear friend.

The special also raised money for the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund and will rebroadcast on MTV Live this coming Saturday, April 10th.

Dolly also shared this video on Instagram shortly after his passing, remembering the man she called “a wonderful man and a true friend.”

RIP Kenny, you will be truly missed.
