Luke Combs Performs Unreleased “Used To Wish I Was” For First Time Ever

And he does it AGAIN.

Luke hopped on the ol’ Twitch last night for another live-stream concert and among raising money for Coronavirus relief and playing some fan favorites like “Dear Today,” Beer Never Broke My Heart,” and “This One’s For You,” Luke, yet again, gave his fans another unreleased new song.

“I wanna try a new one, I was down in Florida in January before all this craziness happened, writtin’ some songs and I wrote some good ones down there, at least some ones that I like a whole lot. And I’m gonna play one of ’em for ya tonight, I guess it would be called “Used To Wish I Was” or something like that… I haven’t really named it I guess… it’s brand new, I’ve never played it before so I hope you guys like it.”

Reminiscent of fellow North Carolina native Eric Church and his Sinner Like Me track “What I Almost Was,” this new one is a reflective look back at all things you thought you wanted to do with your life. Most of the time it never turns out the way you planned, but if you’re lucky, you wouldn’t change a thing.

“I’m just an old Carolina boy, Oh boy, boys I ain’t got no choice
I pick a little guitar in the evening, wear Mossy Oak out of deer season
I wouldn’t be anybody but me, even if I tried
I used to wish I was, but I’m glad I’m not”

I’ve probably listened to this song 35 times already this morning.

Obsessed.
