Barely an hour after news broke that ’90s country star Joe Diffie had passed away due to Coronavirus complications, it was revealed that legendary singer/songwriter John Prine is in critical condition with Coronavirus symptoms.
According to an update from his wife Fiona, John (who is 73) has been hospitalized with Coronavirus symptoms and his “situation is critical.” He was checked into the hospital this past Thursday, and last night, things took a turn for the worse.
She shared the following update to her Instagram:
“Our beloved John. I am scared and sad and I am hopeful. All I can think of is what my sister and friend Becca Stevens has told me for years LOVE HEALS.”
John’s wife Fiona tested positive for the deadly virus about two weeks go, however at the time they were not certain if John himself had contracted the virus as well. His test results came back inconclusive.
She broke the news with an Instagram video on March 17th:
“We are working really, really hard and being really diligent about all of the protocols. We are quarantined and isolated from each other and members of the family. It’s hard, I won’t lie, but it’s absolutely important… many of you know he has had a lot of different health issues over the years and he is definitely in that vulnerable population.”
She concluded by urging people to stay home while we get through this extremely difficult time.
