Chris Stapleton & Billy Ray Cyrus Performed “Ready, Set, Don’t Go” Together All The Way Back In 2007

Back in 1992, a young hot shot named Billy Ray Cyrus burst onto the country music scene with a little ditty called “Achy Breaky Heart”

Rocking that glorious mullet, high-top Reeboks, and a cut-off tee shirt, young Billy Ray was dripping in swagger, and at the time, the future looked bright.

But unfortunately for Billy Ray, he never really ever had another hit… well, at least not until 2007.

In 2007, after Billy Ray’s daughter Miley, AKA Hannah Montana, became a household name and was on her way to becoming a teenage superstar, he released a song called “Ready, Set, Don’t Go” about her moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. It went #3 on the country charts, his first Top 5 finish in a long, long time.

Ok, great, but all of that was just me setting the stage for something else. Something I just found on YouTube a minute ago…

From all the way back in 2007, on an episode of The View, Billy Ray Cyrus performs his new single “Ready, Set, Don’t Go” with the help of some guy named…. CHRIS STAPLETON?

Wait, what…

Yeah, THE Chris Stapleton is singing background vocals and playing guitar with Billy Ray for this performance on The View. And I know what you’re thinking, but no, Chris didn’t write this one. But he did sing background on the studio version.

Now here we are in 2020, Chris is an international country music sensation, Billy Ray is probably best known for the “Old Town Road” remix, and does anyone know if The View is still on TV anymore?

Enjoy.

And just because we’re talking about it… here ya go.
