Cody Johnson Strips Down Brooks & Dunn’s “Red Dirt Road” For Stellar Acoustic Performance

With his first ACM Awards nomination under his belt, CoJo is already off to one helluva year.

He’s currently on the road with Miranda Lambert, opening up for her Wildcard Tour, and he’ll be making his 3rd consecutive appearance at Rodeo Houston next week. If you remember back to last year’s rodeo, Cody packed the NRG Stadium with nearly 75,000 fans.

Today, he released a stripped down performance of the Brooks & Dunn classic, “Red Dirt Road,” a personal favorite of us here at Whiskey Riff HQ. Of course, Cody’s version of “Red Dirt Road” was also featured on Brooks & Dunn’s Reboot record.

Slowing it way down, Cody let’s his stellar country voice do the heavy lifting on this performance. And while it’s definitely different from the original, you can’t help but love Cody’s intimate approach to this 2003 classic.

That’s some damn country music right there.
