We finally have an update on NASCAR driver Ryan Newman’s condition.
During the final lap of the Daytona 500 yesterday, Ryan Newman and Ryan Blaney locked bumpers, which eventually sent Ryan Newman’s car careening hard into the wall. He flipped through the air multiple times, the vehicle caught fire and he went sliding across the finish line on his roof. Needless to say, it was one of the worst crashes many NASCAR fans have ever seen.
He was immediately taken to the hospital and later, it was revealed that he was in “serious condition, but his injuries were not life threatening.”
However this afternoon, Roush Fenway Racing has given fans an update on Newman’s condition and are pleased to announce that he is “awake and speaking with family and doctors.”
Newman still has a long road to recovery, and this very may well be the end of his racing career, but after watching that crash, this is great news. We wish Ryan a speedy recovery.
