Scotty McCreery Releases Impeccable Acoustic Version Of “Five More Minutes”

If you didn’t have “Five More Minutes” on your “songs of the decade” list, your list is WRONG. Simple as that.

Not to toot our own horn or anything, but we first discovered this song from a live performance back in mid-2016, shared it with our fans, and it quickly shot to over a million views… before the song was ever close to being released. In an era when bro-country was the bread and butter of country radio, Scotty smacked us all in the head and reminded everybody what country music was supposed to look like.

He finally released it in May of 2017, and in March of 2018 it became the #1 song on country radio. Scotty had his first #1 single and became the first country artist to ever have a #1 on country radio without a record label.

More than just revitalizing Scotty’s post-American Idol career, there was a sense that country music was looking for something different than the pickup truck, dirt road bullshit we were so used to hearing. Now here we are in 2020, and overall, things in country music appear to be looking up.

And today, Scotty is back with an acoustic version of the song that changed everything all the way back in 2016.

Easily one of my favorite country songs of the past 10 years, “Five More Minutes.”
